In the international TOPSOIL project, the province of Drenthe, the Hunze and Aa district water board and the Noorderzijlvest district water board join partners from Denmark, Germany, Great Britain and Belgium to search for solutions to the consequences of climate change. In various subprojects, participants study the local effects of climate change on water, nature and agriculture and explore the use of topsoil layers to limit negative effects. The objective of the project is the realisation of climate-resistant areas. These are areas that can handle very intense rainfall as well as prolonged dry periods.
